UPDATE: Katrina relief
Just wanted to give you all an update... the other day I posted that we should all give $50 to Katrina relief, in the sense that all of us could help more than one of us. I'm proud to report that between those who've commented and those who've contacted me privately, our community here on this blog has now contributed at least $550 to aid our fellow Americans when they need us. And because of you, my little $50 has turned into our $550. And I think we ought to be proud of that.
Thank you.

Make that $600 as my wife also contributed $50. Excellent work everyone.

We're up to $650 now, guys -- thanks to Kat (who posted back on the original post).
$650. We raised/donated $650. The whole time I've had this blog, I've never been prouder of it.

Minor point, but Atrios and Skippy encourage people to add $0.01 to your donation as a sign that it came from the blogsphere.

I didn't see that you'd asked people. We gave $25 to America's Second Harvest and haven't yet decided where to make our next donation. We're also donating clothing to our local Salvation Army to keep up supply for our area (which we do anyway). So put me down for $25 so far ;)

Second donation of $25 made to a different charity -- I can't find an e-mail address to let you know these things ;)
