How Come There's No Songs About Wednesday?

There's Manic Monday, Come Monday, Blue Monday, and Monday, Monday; Ruby Tuesday, Tuesday Afternoon; Friday I'm In Love, Thank God It's Friday, and S-A, TUR, D-A-Y ... NIGHT (try getting that song out of your head now!)... but no songs about Wednesday nights?

Anyway, the thought for the day is: 8:00 am presentations (started that early to accommodate colleagues in Europe) suck, and that the only thing that sucks worse than an 8:00 am presentation is needing to go to work early (i.e., should be in the office by 7 to review my presentaton, which means leaving here by 6:20 or so) and thus getting to sleep the night before really early. Sleeping pills rock.

Talk to you guys tomorrow.

I wish that I could leave home that late. I'm usually at work by 6:00 (+/- 5 minutes).

Slacker.

What about Wednesday's child? That's a song. It goes:

Wednesday's child
is big and fat
Don't look too hard
she'll kick your cat
Wednesday's child whoohooo

Wednesday's child
is a sociopath
Wednesday's child
might give you a rath

weooooo wednesday's child woooohooo

I need sleep.

Ahem. Simon and Garfunkel. "Wednesday Morning, 3 AM." Final cut, side two (well, except for the previously unreleased 3 additional songs on this remastered CD).

My Boss (who some of you know) went to the UK this week so I was starting at 4am a few days to prep for a couple big presos... but some 'mudge I know and his boss had me up at something like 2am one time to do something like change the shade of blue on a couple slides : )......

Hey - for the record, I still hate Powerpoint and think that anyone who uses it is simply wasting time with a crutch because they're afraid that what they have to say lacks resonance. (Says the guy who delivered a 16 chart presentation this morning!)

As for the 2 am incident... yeah, I remember that one very well too. Wanna lay odds on who had the harder time? You at home at 2 am on the US west coast (nine hours removed from the speaker), or me in Cannes, France -- in the same room with the very nervous, chart-obsessed speaker (who wasn't accepting my assurances that I'd written him a brilliant speech, and that said speech combined with the charts UG had built would totally land with the audience)whose career and reputation were on the line?

Full disclosure - that speech/presentation was the biggest triumph of the show and of the speaker's career ... and it was writing that one speech in early 2003 that made my career at Global MegaCorp. So - UG - a very public muchas gracias for helping me look good that week ... even if I woke you up at 2 am, and even if being in France with that exec that week took three months off my life in stress. ;-)

Thanks mudge.... I was just kidding in any case... I'm sure said happy exec (and the fact the you passed the credit along) also meant I made it through some RIFs :)
